The Southeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association out of Georgia, USA commissioned these two awards as gifts in recognition of the company that has done the most for lumber producers in the past year, and to acknowledge the work of the Chairman of the Board.

Both carvings are done in hard maple, 2" thick, and are finished with a clear coat of sanding sealer topped with a light coat of hardwood wax.

The corporate logo and name of the company are rendered exactly as they appear on the company stationary.

The SLMA logo is rendered 1/2" deep with sloping sides to give the extruded look.

This closeup shows how I rendered the tiny lettering under the logo. I call this "quilted lettering". The perimeters of the letters have been v-tooled and the background around the letters has been stamped. That's it!

The letters in the lower text area are raised by 1/4". All text is generated to size on my computer and then traced onto the master pattern, and then onto the wood panel. This is the only way I know to quickly and effectively generate accurate and stylish text for carving.
